Dungeons
Spend tokens, explore a 5×5 floor, open chests, beat the boss in time.
Getting in
You need the Dungeon Ticket (you get it for defeating 10 Pokémon on Route 2) and the dungeon’s price in Dungeon Tokens, which you earn by catching Pokémon. Viridian Forest costs 50; Cerulean Cave, the last one, 2,500.
The floor
Each run is a 5×5 floor in fog: a boss, chests, wild Pokémon and trainers, and empty rooms. You start at the entrance and move to rooms next to ones you’ve seen. The 60-second timer starts with your first step; if it runs out you’re sent out and the tokens are gone. Beat the boss to clear the dungeon.
- Wild Pokémon here can be caught (shiny 1 in 4,096) and give EXP but no money.
- Trainers’ Pokémon give ×1.5 EXP.
- Chests make it harder: every chest you open raises enemy HP by 20% of its base.
Loot
A chest’s tier is rolled: common 75%, rare 20%, epic 4%, legendary 0.99%, mythic 0.01% — with more clears, some of the common share moves to rarer tiers. Loot includes balls, battle items, berries, shards, restores and more, and sometimes a Pokémon.
Bosses
Some bosses are legendary: Zapdos in the Power Plant, Articuno in the Seafoam Islands, Moltres on Mt. Ember (Sevii) and Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave after you become Champion. Boss Pokémon can be caught after you beat them.
